Wine Description

A top-class white Châteauneuf

The white Châteauneuf from the Vieux Donjon wine estate is one of the most surprising you can taste right now. Surprising in its freshness, purity and elegance, rare in this appellation. The wines are often heavy, rich and a little pasty. Made from a blend of equal parts Roussanne and Clairette, this white wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks. This is what sets it apart from the others, which are generally aged in concrete vats or barrels.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The white Châteauneuf from the Vieux Donjon wine estate is one of the best in the whole appellation. It is distinguished by its elegant, delicate style. The aromas are well present in its youth, and it retains a fine capacity for aging. A great gastronomic wine to be enjoyed on special occasions.

On the nose, the wine reveals itself perfectly, pure, clear and limpid. A fresh style with slightly exotic notes of apricot, mirabelle plum and grapefruit. A slight floral note emerges after oxygenation. A very good first impression that makes you want to go on tasting.

On the palate, the attack is invigorating, with citrus notes and a slightly "pastry" side due to the Roussanne, which gradually emerges, without any heaviness. This is a wine of superb substance, despite having been aged in stainless steel tanks. It stands out for its depth and intensity. A superb white Châteauneuf du pape not to be missed, and available in even smaller quantities than the red Châteauneuf cuvée.
