Wine Description

Domaine Charvin's Châteauneuf du Pape is exceptional in many ways. Made from a wide variety of parcels, the majority of which are old Grenache vines, it draws its strength and complexity from the different soils that make up theblend of Grenache, Syrah, Vaccarèse and Mourvèdre. Between clay, sand and pebbles, the diversity of terroirs lends a different expression to the grapes, which complement each other perfectly in this well-mastered blend. This wine harbors undeniable potential, and will deliver itself over time with great distinction and class.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Charvin wine estate is one of the best in Châteauneuf du Pape. It produces wonderful wines that are worked and harvested with the utmost care. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats and ageing in foudre, which is relatively atypical for this sector. The result is wines of great energy and superb drinkability right from their youth.

On the nose, the wine develops notes of blackcurrant, cedar and slight hints of dried tobacco. It's an approach to the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation that's all finesse and gourmandise.

The palate is a real caress, with incredibly supple tannins. Notes of violet, cherry and blackberry are superb. A great wine that reveals itself well in its youth, but will undeniably gain in complexity over time.
