Wine Description

Domaine Robert-Denogent 's Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Les Reisses holds a special place in the wine estate's range: a cuvée born of old Chardonnay vines, telling the story of a unique terroir in Burgundy. In Fuissé, in the heart of the Mâconnais region, the Les Reisses parcel covers 0.50 hectares, with vines over 60 years old grown on deep clay soil . This particular terroir alternates between daytime heat and night-time coolness, giving the grapes a remarkable harmony of ripeness in Pouilly Fuissé. The vineyard is farmed organically, with conversion to biodynamic viticulture in progress, and the approach in the winery is deliberately low-intervention. Hand harvesting, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and no oenological inputs, ageing for at least two years in oak barrels on fine lees: all the attention paid to this cuvée seeks to preserve the natural expression of Pouilly Fuissé terroirs.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Pouilly Fuissé 1er Cru Les Reisses from Domaine Robert Denogent is one of the noblest wines in Pouilly Fuissé. This wine combines power and elegance, aromatic density and mineral tension, with good ageing potential for those who know how to be patient. Few white wines combine such finesse and amplitude with an acid structure that will stand the test of time.

The nose is complex and bewitching, initially revealing abundant white flowers, juicy yellow-fleshed fruit and ripe citrus. As it opens, the bouquet is enriched by deeper, greedier nuances: toasted almond, roasted hazelnut, acacia honey and brioche bread bear witness to perfectly integrated barrel ageing.

On the palate, the substance of the ripe Chardonnay gives a sensation of richness without excessive opulence, with an enveloping attack perfectly balanced by energizing acidity. Flavors of ripe fruit, candied citrus, fresh butter and nuts offer remarkable depth and breadth on the palate. The wine is full-bodied and structured, ideal for prolonged cellaring. The unctuous texture blends with a slightly chalky minerality on a finish marked by saline freshness, which adds tension and prolongs the tasting on a beautiful salivation.
