Domaine Pierre André in Châteauneuf-du-Pape: The Elegance of Châteauneuf du Pape lands revealed!

Domaine Pierre André is located in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. This family-run estate embodies the very essence of traditional viticulture. Founded in 1795, the 18-hectare wine estate has preserved its heritage while modernizing to continue producing exceptional wines. The Pierre André wine estate's vines thrive on stony soils composed of rolled pebbles and red clay. This combination gives the wines unrivalled depth and aromatic complexity.

The wine estate cultivates a variety of traditional grape varieties, the average age of the vines being 70 years, with the oldest being 130 years old. The grape varieties are mainly Grenache (80%), followed by Syrah (10%), Mourvèdre (8%) and a hint of Cinsault for the reds. As for the white, it's mostly Grenache Blanc and a few indigenous varieties.

Care for the vines has long been a priority on the wine estate: organic cultivation since 1980. Biodynamic viticulture naturally followed in 1992: the vines are sprayed with plant extracts and specific preparations. Finally, the wine estate works in harmony with cosmic rhythms. Respect for the terroir is at the heart of every viticultural decision.

Winemaking at the Pierre André wine estate is marked by tradition. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, and winemaking is "traditional" for the reds (unstemmed harvest and long vatting periods of 3 to 4 weeks, ageing in oak vats and foudres for 18 to 20 months). The wines are not filtered, but only fined with fresh organic ageing egg whites. After pressing and light settling, the white wine ferments at a temperature of 19-20°C in non-new foudres.

Domaine Pierre André wines are distinguished by their elegance and balance. The reds reveal aromas of ripe red fruit, spices and garrigue, while the whites offer a palette of citrus and white flowers. These wines are made for laying down, and will blossom magnificently over time.
