La Barroche
Domaine La Barroche is a family-run wine estate with around 15 hectares of vines, mainly in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. They own some of the finest parcels of old vines planted on pebble and sand terroirs.
Ageing is rather traditional, as most of the wine is aged in very old foudres. Julien Barrot, the current winemaker, oversees the entire wine estate, improving the work in the vines from year to year. The wines are elegant, concentrated and intense. Julien Barrot is one of the rising stars of his generation, and with each new vintage the wine becomes more balanced and complex.
Domaine La Barroche is fortunate to have very old Grenache vines, mostly planted on sandy terroirs (80% of the vines) and very close to the famous Château Rayas. The result is magical, carefully-crafted wines that are not at all aggressive. The vines root easily, resulting in unprecedented complexity.
The finest cuvées from the La Barroche wine estate are very rare, like the Pure cuvée. But you can also treat yourself to its classic cuvée, formerly known as Signature, which is highly representative of the wine estate's overall style, and absolutely delicious.
An essential wine estate in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation that deserves the attention of enthusiasts and neophytes alike.
