Muchada-Léclapart
The Muchada-Léclapart wine estate was born of a meeting between two exceptional winemakers. David Léclapart, a famous winemaker who produces some of the finest champagne wines, and Alejandro Muchada, aSpaniard who fell in love with the terroirs of Andalusia.
The aim of these two purists and enthusiasts is to bring out the best in Andalusian terroirs known for their Sherry. Their aim: to create dry white wines from Albariza soils using the Palomino grape in its purest, unadulterated form.
The unique sapidity and salinity of the "Albariza" soils combined with the elegance and subtlety of the "Palomino" grape give rise to great wines of surprising strength and finesse.
Alejandro Muchada and David Léclapart have created parcel-based cuvées with a singular identity. The plots named La Platera, Miraflores Alta and Camino del Puerto are essentially composed of local grape varieties, namely Palomino and Moscatel.
They both share the same values of respect for the environment, which is why all the vines are worked biodynamically. They nurture their soil to make it more and more alive, and intervene very little in the vine's life cycle.
All these considerations lead us to limit production in order to concentrate even more on grape quality. As a result, yields rarely exceed 35 hectolitres per hectare, and in some cuvées even fall below 12 hectolitres per hectare.
The wines reveal the subtle character and elegance of Andalusian terroirs, with each plot having its own identity.
The cuvées we've selected are among the most exciting we've ever tasted in Spain. Well-balanced, surprising wines of great complexity.
Let's start with the cuvée Univers+, made from 20-year-old Palomino vines grown on a clay-limestone plot, a wine of great purity, intense fruitiness and persistent salinity. The Elixir cuvée stands out for its blend of very old Moscatel and Palomino vines in limestone subsoil. Yields are extremely low, just 9hl/ha. A wine as rare as it is exceptional. Last but not least, the Cuvée Lumière , the wine estate's grand vin, situated on some of the finest terroirs in the whole of Andalusia. It is distinguished by its extraordinary harmony, elegance and complexity.
