The Charvin wine estate is located in Orange, producing wines in the southern Rhône Valley, in the northern part of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Established in 1851, it is one of the oldest wine estates in the appellation. Today, Laurent Charvin has taken over the 32-hectare wine estate.

Starting in 1990, Laurent Charvin fully took the wine estate under his wing, crafting wines in a style that was new to the region. He quickly attracted the attention of numerous critics and earned high scores at tastings. The vines are cultivated using organic farming methods, and the wines are produced in concrete tanks using whole clusters, which lends the wines an extra touch of freshness.

The Charvin wine estate is fortunate to own plots on the appellation’s coolest terroirs, which allows it to produce wines of great finesse while retaining remarkable aromatic intensity. The grape varieties used in the blend are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and the very rare Vaccarèse.

The wines have truly gained in finesse over the past several vintages, as the estate has shifted its winemaking approach; with climate change underway, adjustments must be made to achieve the best balance in the wine.

Today, the wine estate is widely acclaimed by wine enthusiasts and has established itself as one of the appellation’s leading producers. It is undoubtedly one of the ambassadors of a refined Châteauneuf-du-Pape style.

The vintages currently available at Mundovin are the 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape —which we also offer in magnum bottles—as well as the 2020 Côtes du Rhône.
