Wine Description
Albert Boxler 's Riesling Grand Cru Brand "K" comes from one of the sunniest terroirs inAlsace. Situated on the granitic foothills of Turckheim's Kirchberg , within the Grand Cru Brand, this steep, south-facing hillside captures the heat intensely, offering perfect ripeness every year. The cuvée "K", for Kirchberg, is a precise parcel selection led by Jean Boxler, from old vines at medium altitude, rooted mid-slope in a granitic-clay bedrock that forces the vines to dig deep to load up on minerals. This soil, combined with respectful organic farming, produces a wine of exceptional purity. The old vines deliver a juice that is both concentrated and long, vinified without artifice in the estate's century-old tuns. A vertical, luminous Riesling, with a dry, taut character, but always enveloping, in the image of Jean Boxler's precise, luminous style.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : In my opinion, the "K" version of Grand Cru Brand expresses the solar nobility of Riesling. Every year, Jean Boxler achieves a synthesis of ripe density and vibrant freshness. This cuvée impresses with its ability to combine accessibility and complexity in its youth, while retaining an evolutionary potential worthy of the greatest dry white wines. Of all the wines from the Albert Boxler wine estate, this one is particularly rare, both in terms of volume and style, and deserves to be waited for, if only for five years.
On the nose, the wine is extraordinarily complex, with the sapidity of ripe citrus fruits - citron, pink pomelo, tangerine juice - mingled with rather summery floral and herbaceous scents - mimosa, elderberry blossom, chamomile, lime blossom... Added to this is the roundness of ripe yellow berries such as greengage and mirabelle plum, fleshed out with exotic, sweet scents. Nuances of warm stone, flint and a hint of petrol give this formidable bouquet a shimmering energy. The whole remains astonishingly clear, and calls for tasting.
The palate is fleshy, almost dense in its attack. The wine stretches out with an ample body, full of delicate ripeness in which we find the incredible aromatic palette of the nose. Perfectly balanced acidity energizes the whole and brings a sensation of limpid purity to the mid-palate, whose vibrant salinity heralds a finish marked by the mineral allure of Kirchberg. Jean Boxler's signature Grand Cru Brand touches the sublime.
