Domaine Agapé 's Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker is one of the pinnacles of this family business founded by Vincent Sipp, a winemaker from a long line of Alsace roots. Nestled on the slopes of Hunawihr, this wine draws its character from the terroir of the Heitzberg, in the Grand Cru Rosacker. South-facing at an altitude of almost 340 meters, the Riesling vines grow on Muschelkalk limestone soil, which gives the grapes an exceptional mineral tension. Under the influence of the continental climate protected by the Vosges mountains, the grapes benefit from slow ripening, guaranteeing a balance between acidity and aromatic maturity.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Agapé's Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker is one of the finest expressions of this terroir. It stands out for its straightforwardness, tension and disconcerting depth. The minerality is clean, without excess, perfectly integrated into the whole. Its chiseled salinity makes it a wine for laying down and an ideal companion for summer gastronomy.
On the nose, the wine is distinguished by the powerful minerality typical of Grand Cru Rosacker, from which smoky aromas emanate as soon as it opens. Fine floral notes of hawthorn and lime blossom add an almost meditative delicacy, while a trace of licorice adds further complexity.
The palate is distinguished by a sustained minerality, marked from the outset, true to the limestone soil of the Rosacker Grand Cru. The acidic framework invigorates the wine, giving it a precise structure without harshness. Sweet, ripe aromas of pear, mirabelle plum and apricot add roundness and fullness. The finish unfolds with a salivating minerality that suggests remarkable ageing potential.
