Albert Mann 's Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Furstentum SGN is the quintessence of this grape variety on the exceptional terroirs of the Alsace Grand Cru appellation, and one of the jewels of the Albert Mann wine estate. The steep slopes of the Furstentum, in Kientzheim, are home to a limestone terroir with southern and southeastern exposure, which captures the light and returns it to the old vines with a rare intensity. Gewurztraminer has been planted here for over twenty years, drawing from this mineral matrix the concentration and finesse that characterize the best over-ripe wines in the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. Cultivated biodynamically on a vineyard tended like a garden, this Sélection de Grains Nobles comes from extremely careful harvests, where each bunch is hand-picked grain by grain, when the noble rot has reached perfect ripeness. The ensuing winemaking is carried out using indigenous yeasts to bring out the full essence of this fabulous nectar. Ageing is measured, carried out on fine lees in vats, with sometimes a small portion of the juice aged in old barrels to give the wine a patina without marking it. The result is a highly concentrated wine, whose richness is counterbalanced by a pronounced acid column and minerality, guaranteeing great ageing potential.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Furstentum Sélection de Grains Nobles is the pinnacle of the Albert Mann wine estate's range of sweet wines. The vines draw from this terroir a saline minerality and concentration that enable them to achieve a noble sweetness without losing precision. This cuvée from the Albert Mann wine estate is a benchmark among wines with good ageing potential, capable of evolving gracefully over the next two decades!

The nose of this Grand Cru Furstentum Sélection de Grains Nobles is spectacularly intense from the outset, with a remarkable concentration of ripe exotic fruit, musky rose and jasmine. The typical markers of botrytization blend happily with this already impressive bouquet, and flesh it out with notes of quince paste, saffron and honey. The spicy framework takes on oriental accents of cardamom, saffron and candied ginger. The whole is underpinned by the fine, stony minerality typical of Fürstentum.

On the palate, the wine reveals a generous body, energized by a chiselled acidity that gives it an incomparable mineral brilliance. Botrytis shows itself in all its splendor in the unctuousness of the material and the depth of the aromas, typical of overripe wines: passion fruit, roasted pineapple, lychee and juicy mango, candied fruit, floral honey and complex spices. The elegant salinity of the finish and the lingering peppery aromas prolong the evolution and stretch the wine with power and precision. The wine's vitality reveals its great ageing potential, making it an outstanding wine for the most patient of tasters!
