Chénas Les Petites Pierres is a cuvée that bears witness to the visionary approach of Julien Guillot, the emblematic winemaker of the Les Vignes du Maynes wine estate. This wine is made from 60-year-old Gamay vines grown on the granite terroir of Chénas, one of Beaujolais' most exclusive and sought-after crus. The soils combine granite and clay, giving the wine a unique expression of purity and elegance.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Hand-picking preserves the integrity of the grapes, which are then vinified as whole bunches using a semi-carbonic method. This technique favors the delicate extraction of aromas and textures while respecting the fruit. After natural fermentation with no added inputs, the wine is aged in barrels of several wines to refine its complexity without masking the characteristics of the terroir.
The nose opens with notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by delicate floral nuances of peony and violet. On aeration, spicy and mineral touches emerge, reminiscent of the granite soil from which it comes.
On the palate, the wine seduces with its vibrant freshness and remarkable balance. Crisp red fruit flavors dominate, enriched by hints of white pepper and a fine tannic structure. The texture is silky, supported by a fine acidity that adds tension and prolongs the tasting experience.
