Wine Description
Bérêche & Fils ' Champagne Rosé Campania Remensis occupies a prestigious, exclusive place in the hushed world of champagnes d'auteur. The most subtle expression of the house's savoir-faire, this Extra Brut Rosé faithfully reflects the vision of Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche, who sculpt terroir wines with crystalline precision. The fifty-year-old vines are planted in the sand and silt soils of the Ormes hillside, on the Montagne de Reims. This terroir, renowned for its lightness, gives the wine its brilliance and mineral tension. The blend is predominantly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a hint of Coteaux Champenois red for color. The name of the cuvée Campania Remensis refers to the first name given to the terroirs of Reims in Roman times. True to its philosophy, Domaine Bérêche & Fils makes this wine with the utmost precision and in very limited quantities: slow fermentation in barrels, prolonged ageing on lees, then a three-year rest on laths before disgorging in early spring. The Extra Brut dosage is designed to preserve the purity and uprightness of the terroir.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Bérêche & Fils wines are undoubtedly among the most accomplished expressions of Champagne's vineyards. This Champagne Rosé Campania Remensis Extra Brut by Bérêche & Fils is a luminous demonstration of this: an Extra Brut rosé that is both ethereal and fleshy, combining aromatic intensity and salivating tension. Its racy structure and vibrant balance make it a gastronomic wine, capable of evolving magnificently over time.
On the nose, the Campania Remensis cuvée opens with an energetic bouquet of wild berries, blood orange and pink grapefruit. Gradually, nuances of rose petals, citrus peel and fine spices emerge, supported by a slight chalky accent that is the hallmark of the Ormes terroir.
On the palate, the full, creamy body is served by a fine, caressing effervescence. Balance comes from perfectly balanced acidity, with red berries and spices bursting onto the taste buds. The depth of the aromas, the richness of the body and the freshness of the tension give this rosé a rare, perfectly balanced elegance. The finish displays a mineral persistence that prolongs the pleasure with remarkable finesse. The unmistakable signature of the Bérêche & Fils style!
