Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Tertre Rotebœuf 2020 François Mitjavile | Bordeaux

The Tertre Roteboeuf cuvée is made from the finest parcels of Saint-Emilion's unclassified Grands Crus. It is a wine distinguished by its balance, gourmandise and supple tannins. This wine rivals the greatest Bordeaux wines, and has no reason to be ashamed of the^1er grands crus classés such as Cheval Blanc, Ausone, Haut Brion and many others. François Mijtavile is the author of this work, which for a long time was ignored or even shunned by the press. It was only in the 90s that his wines began to arouse the curiosity of fine wine tasters. Today, this wine is considered to be the finest unclassified Bordeaux ever produced.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: François Mitjavile entered the world of Bordeaux wines by the back door in the '70s, and made a name for himself with this Saint-Emilion Tertre Roteboeuf. The parcels that make up this wine's blend are all located in different places, and the vines are pruned in different ways. There's even a small amphitheater-shaped plot at the foot of the winery. That's the magic of Le Tertre Roteboeuf! François Mitjavile also chooses each of the barrels that will hold this wine, and carries out a toasting process tailored to each vintage. A truly great Bordeaux winemaker.

The wine reveals notes of ripe black fruit. You can feel that the grapes have been picked at perfect ripeness. The nose is both exuberant and elegant. The ageing is mastered to perfection, as is the case with all our wines.

On the palate, the substance is intense and greedy, the tannins of great suavity. Notes of coffee, blackcurrant, prune and a touch of black pepper. In short, a multitude of aromas that reveal themselves with subtlety.
