Wine Description

Sylvain Pataille 's Marsannay rouge is a luminous gateway to the world of finesse and complexity of this great winemaker. Produced from old Pinot Noir vines averaging 30 to 50 years old, this cuvée reflects the rich terroir mosaic of the Marsannay terroir in the Côte de Nuits, between red clay and limestone. The grapes are hand-picked and vinified in stainless-steel vats, with gentle extraction to preserve their finesse. Ageing lasts around 12 months in oak barrels, including a small proportion of new wood, before being transferred to vats to refine the balance and reveal the wine's aromatic complexity.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Sylvain Pataille 's Marsannay rouge stands out for its ability to accurately represent the Marsannay appellation as a whole. It perfectly illustrates the Domaine Sylvain Pataille style, where finesse, precision and expression of terroir come together to perfection. Accessible today, it also offers interesting ageing potential, allowing the flavours to become more complex and the aromas to blend harmoniously over the years. A true Burgundy of terroir, mastered and sincere!

On the nose, we discover a wine of incredible finesse, with delicate aromas of morello cherries and fresh strawberries, typical of Burgundy Pinot Noir. A slightly minty, vegetal touch evokes the freshness of undergrowth. With a little aeration, the wine develops notes of licorice and pepper, reinforcing the aromatic complexity while remaining true to the precise style of Domaine Sylvain Pataille.

On the palate, the wine is pure and generous, enveloped by fine, delicious tannins. The freshness is in perfect balance with the fruit, supported by an elegant mineral framework. Hints of tangy fruit, undergrowth and a hint of aniseed. On the palate, a long, tender, juicy texture with delicate spices.
