The Chablis de Bessin-Tremblay represents the most immediate expression of the work carried out by Antoine and Romain Bessin. This cuvée is a blend of several parcels located on the upper slopes overlooking the wine estate's historic village, in the heart of the Chablis region. The 30- to 40-year-old Chardonnay vines thrive in Kimmeridgian marl soils mixed with clay-limestone, typical of northern Burgundy. As usual throughout its vineyards, Domaine Bessin Tremblay cultivates these parcels using organic viticulture and biodynamic principles, with a focus on soil vitality and balanced ripening. After hand-harvesting and natural fermentation in vats, the wine remains on its fine lees in vats and barrels for over a year before bottling, then rests in the cellar for a few more months. This long, unadulterated ageing refines the wine's structure and brings out the typical expression of these terroirs.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Behind its apparent simplicity, the Chablis from the Bessin Tremblay wine estate sets the contours of the style of this great Burgundy house, between precision of gesture, mastery of ageing and precision of terroir. Antoine and Romain Bessin have created a balanced, accessible and lively wine, true to the tension of Chablis. A real favorite!
The nose reveals a dazzling bouquet of white fruits, pulpy citrus and fine white flowers. Vegetal accents of fresh herbs and a touch of iodine add to the complexity of the whole, which delivers a limpid reading of the Kimmeridgian terroir.
Bessin-Tremblay 's Chablis is juicy and fresh on the palate, bursting with bright white fruit flavors that stretch over an energizing, deliciously chiseled lemony frame. Aromas of fresh herbs and sweet spices add great sapidity to the whole, while the finish, with its maritime and chalky accents, makes the wine vibrate with a length as refreshing as it is impressive.
