Wine Description

Les Hauts de Martet is Château Martet 's first wine in the Sainte Foy Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. It is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on gravel and clay-limestone terroirs. Winemaking takes place in concrete vats for 9 months, and no barrels are used for this wine, which reveals a pleasant, characterful right bank character. It has a magnificent mouthfeel with generous, gourmet notes.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The cuvée Les Hauts de Martet is a superb Bordeaux wine produced by a family that knows how to maintain tradition but also bring modernity to its wine. Indeed, the Martet family has called on Louis Mitjavile, a long-standing friend, to vinify and mature part of their range. The result is a wine of superb balance.

On the nose, notes of black fruit are immediately apparent. There's also a touch of cinnamon, black pepper and a magnificent hint of licorice. A wine of great aromatic power.

The palate is suave and greedy, with velvety tannins. Intense notes of black fruit, a touch of balsamic cream and tonka bean. A surprisingly complex wine for this price range.
