Réserve de la Famille blanc 2021 Château Martet | Bordeaux

Château Martet's Réserve de la Famille Blanc is a cuvée made from a precise blend of Semillon accompanied by Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris. These emblematic Bordeaux grape varieties flourish here on a rich, complex clay-limestone terroir characterized by deep, well-drained soils that enable optimal ripening of the grapes.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : For this cuvée Réserve de la Famille Blanc, Château Martet selects perfectly ripe grapes from old vines. Harvesting is done by hand, to preserve the integrity of the bunches, and the work in the cellar is meticulous. After gentle pressing, the wine is fermented in new French oak barrels, then aged on fine lees for 12 months, with regular stirring of the lees.

On the nose, the wine is complex and intense, marked by white-fleshed fruit aromas of peach and ripe pear, complemented by exotic notes of pineapple and mango, and subtle floral touches of acacia and lime blossom. There's also a hint of toast and vanilla from barrel ageing, enriching the bouquet without overpowering it.

On the palate, Réserve de la Famille Blanc combines opulence and freshness. The texture is ample and silky, supported by perfectly integrated acidity that gives the wine great tension and superb balance. Flavors of yellow and exotic fruit intertwine with nuances of hazelnut, brioche and a chalky minerality that adds depth and elegance.
