Wine Description
Clos Maïa Rouge is a Terrasses du Larzac wines whose vines are located between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, on very complex terroirs of limestone, schist, clay and pebbles. There is a wide temperature range between day and night, which favors slow ripening of the grapes. This cuvée is blended with 90% Grenache and 10% local grape varieties (Oeillade, Aramon, Terret Bourret Noir and Cinsault).
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Clos Maïa Rouge is the grand vin of the wine estate produced by Géraldine Laval. Its 18-month ageing in foudre and whole-cluster winemaking make it a great Terrasses du Larzac wines for laying down. A wine based on purity of fruit, finesse and racy structure.
On the nose, the wine opens with notes of lavender, blackcurrant, black pepper and beautiful imprints reminiscent of the garrigue. A hint of star anise and white pepper emerge after oxygenation.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with a lovely tannic structure, bright fruit and, above all, a great deal of deliciousness. There's a subtle touch of black pepper characteristic of local grape varieties. A great Terrasses du Larzac wines!
