Domaine De Montille 'sPuligny Montrachet is a blend of parcels in the Village appellation, three-quarters of which come from a Puligny premier cru, Les Chalumeaux. The clay-limestone soil and altitude of 200 meters produce wines that are rich, intense yet fresh.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine De Montille's Puligny Montrachet comes from a terroir classified on paper as a Village rather than a 1er cru, but tasting it reveals a potential well up to and even beyond that of certain premier crus in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. A great Burgundy wine that touches the fingertips of the Côte de Beaune's most prestigious Grands Crus.
On the nose, notes of pear in syrup, white peach, touches of fresh hazelnut and marzipan develop intensely. The wine's minerality is also revealed as the tasting progresses.
The palate is very sensual, very caressing. There are hints of pastry and lemon. This wine has immense potential and deserves to be kept for at least 4 years. The finish ends on a touch of aniseed and iodine that brings great freshness.
