Wine Description

Domaine Tissot 'sArbois Pinot Noir Sous la Tour comes from a unique Jura terroir, in the immediate vicinity ofArbois and the Tour de Curon, on the limestone parcel Les Corvées sous la Tour. Biodynamically cultivated, the vines benefit from a microclimate conducive to the slow, complete ripening of Pinot Noir. This Burgundian grape variety, when worked with the rigor and sensitivity of Bénédicte and Stéphane Tissot, reveals a particularly pure and expressive facet of the Jura. It's a lively, chiselled wine with a taut profile, revealing the identity of the grape variety as much as that of the place.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Sous la Tour cuvée is without doubt one of the finest Pinot Noirs in the Jura. Bénédicte and Stéphane Tissot's interpretation of Pinot Noir is somewhere between Burgundian precision and Jura mineral energy. Matured gently in wooden barrels for a year, with just the right amount of new wood to dress it up without smothering its freshness or bright fruit, this wine manages to combine airy finesse, verticality and sincerity.

This Pinot Noir reveals a dazzling bouquet dominated by ripe black cherry, fresh raspberry and crisp blackcurrant. Delicate nuances of fine spices, such as cinnamon and clove, and undergrowth add depth. Freshness makes itself felt, bringing energy to this precise, pure bouquet.

On the palate, the wine expresses itself with a beautiful fluidity and a fleshy body where maturity is perfectly mastered. The tannins are of rare finesse, underpinned by an acidic freshness that prolongs the tasting with elegance. Red and black fruit flavors announce the sweet spices at the back of the palate, while a chalky minerality lends tension and depth to the whole. The straight, persistent finish confirms the elegance of the grape variety and the mastery of ageing.
