Wine Description
Fons Singularis by Gaël Petit - Moulin La Viguerie embodies the very soul of Tavel, where limestone hillsides imbue the grapes with a unique salinity and minerality. A micro-production of Grenache Noir and Gris, Carignan, Syrah and Aubun from the steepest plots on the wine estate, this cuvée is the result of blending these grape varieties as they leave the barrel. The result is a precise wine, in which each grape variety expresses its typicity in a harmony that brings out the vibrancy of Tavel's limestone terroir.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Gaël Petit's Fons Singularis seduces with its immediate, straightforward personality, where the character of Tavel is instantly apparent. This combination of power and purity makes it a wine of immediate pleasure, telling the story of every stone in its terroir.
On the nose, the cuvée opens with a powerful floral bouquet of dried flowers, sweet peony and spicy hints of white pepper sage. Tart aromas of wild strawberry and wild raspberry add summer freshness, complemented by hints of blood orange and grapefruit.
On the palate, the attack is animated by a saline tension immediately reminiscent of the limestone soils of the right bank of the Rhône. The tannins are remarkably fine, typical of Syrah, enveloping the palate in an airy, slender texture. The midpalate combines fresh red fruit and herbaceous notes with vibrant freshness. The silky, sapid texture of the finish prolongs the tasting with a lingering mineral imprint.
