Cuvée Fidès from the Eric Morgat wine estate is an emblematic wine of the Savennières appellation, created in 2012. The grapes come from various parcels, notably L'Enclos , planted by Eric in 1995 and situated on sandy and schist soils, and Clos Ferrand, located in a particularly hot, dry area. Freshness is provided by the chenins from the east-facing La Pierre Bécherelle parcel. All these parcels are completed by the most prestigious of them all, La Roche aux Moines.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Fidès is one of the finest Savennières wines on offer at the moment. Eric Morgat puts all his genius at the service of wine, defining in his own way the finest terroirs of this magnificent appellation. In particular, he uses 228-liter barrels and doesn't hesitate to age his terroirs separately for more than 18 months for each parcel.
On the nose, the wine evokes a ripe, complex profile. Notes of chamomile, acacia and candied quince. A fine mineral imprint of wet pebbles and flint gives a real sensation of purity.
The palate is dense, fresh and sensual. The gourmet aromas already present on the nose are complemented by notes of salted butter, fresh almond and flower honey. The finish is long, thanks to a harmonizing acidity. A great Savennières that richly deserves its place at the top of the appellation.
