Wine Description

Maison Valette 's Pouilly-Fuissé is a luminous Chardonnay whose energy places it at the very pinnacle of the appellation. Far from the current trend towards woody wines, this cuvée offers exceptional aromatic nuances drawn directly from the multitude of terroirs and soils to be found on theFuissé hillsides. Unlike the parcel-based cuvées of Burgundy, this cuvée is a blend of several terroirs, in addition to the 2019, 2020 and 2021 vintages. Philippe and Cécile Valette chose to age the wine for twelve months in oak barrels on fine lees, followed by eighteen months in stainless steel tanks. The result is a complex, atypical Pouilly Fuissé that pays homage to the ancestral practices of Burgundy, before the terroirs were divided up as they are today.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Maison Valette 's Pouilly-Fuissé expresses the quintessence of Chardonnay in the appellation. This new Valette blending feat achieves a kind ofosmosis between the profiles of the vintages, which complement each other perfectly.

On the nose, the wine radiates an intense, refined aromatic complexity. Scents of white flowers, hazelnut, sesame and honey blend harmoniously with the white-fleshed fruit and mineral notes of the second nose.

On the palate, this Pouilly Fuissé is full-bodied, with a deliciously silky, almost oily texture, structured around superb acidity. Fleshy aromas of citrus and yellow fruit are balanced by toasty minerality. The finish is full of élan, rising to a crescendo of uprightness and salivating minerality.
