Wine Description

The Morgon Camille cuvée from the Marcel Lapierre wine estate is an exceptional wine, made from one of the most prestigious plots on the Côte du Py in the Beaujolais region. The parcel dedicated to Cuvée Camille, identified by cadastral number AX0084, benefits from an ideal south-west exposure on shallow, mineral-rich soils. These conditions enable the old Gamay vines to produce grapes of exceptional quality, marked by great aromatic concentration and a minerality characteristic of this terroir. With only 1.054 hectares in production, this cuvée is the fruit of rigorous selection and scrupulous traditional winemaking methods. The grapes for Cuvée Camille go through the same meticulous stages as the other Morgon cuvées from the Marcel Lapierre wine estate, but with a few specific features. The vatting period is longer, and 100% of the grapes are placed in truncated-cone wooden vats, allowing optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. This respectful approach to the raw material guarantees an authentic wine, a faithful reflection of its terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Cuvée Camille was created to celebrate the return of Camille Lapierre, Marcel's daughter, to the wine estate. It also pays tribute to her grandfather, Marcel's father Camille. This wine embodies the family heritage and know-how handed down from generation to generation, while conveying a modern vision of Côte de Py.

On the nose, Cuvée Camille is distinguished by its deep aromas of black fruits, cherries and plums, accompanied by spicy notes and a hint of minerality.

On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, with silky tannins and freshness. Its long finish leaves a lingering, elegant impression.
