Domaine Monier Perréol 's Viognier Roussanne is a singular white, conceived as a hyphen between generous fruit and straightforward terroir. Registered as an IGP Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes, it expresses the freest side of Domaine Monier Perreol, far from the strict appellation framework. The vines draw on the granite, gneiss and micaschist soils typical of the northern Rhône Valley, , for their remarkable mineral energy. Viognier unfurls its solar aromas, while Roussanne refines tension and texture. A pioneer of biodynamic vi ticulture in the region, the wine estate cultivates its vines by hand, without the use of chemicals or excessive intervention. Winemaking with indigenous yeasts and ageing in stainless steel vats preserve the wine's straightforwardness and natural freshness. The result is a frank, precise white wine with the clarity that only precision can offer.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes Viognier Roussanne from Domaine Monier Perréol stands out for its balance. The ripeness of the fruit never overshadows the tension, and the texture retains the airy suppleness characteristic of the fine white wines of the Northern Rhône Valley. It's one of those discreet cuvées from Domaine Monier Perreol, where the winemaker's gesture takes a back seat to the place to deliver a great moment of pleasure.
The nose opens with delicate notes of ripe apricot and white peach, emblematic of Viognier. Airy nuances of almond blossom and fresh violets mingle with a beautiful minerality in the background, adding further complexity.
On the palate, the wine is fluid and perfectly held together by a framework of lively acidity. Yellow fruits retain their greediness, and the delicate touch reveals the precision of ageing in stainless steel tanks. Fine bitters stretch out the finish, underlining the underlying minerality of this remarkable cuvée.
