Wine Description

Domaine Nicole Lamarche's Clos de Vougeot is one of Burgundy's king climats. The vines, located on gentle slopes facing east, have been cultivated organically since 2010. Depending on the vintage, 80% to 100% of the grapes are destemmed, and the wine is aged in oak barrels for around 18 months, with 60% new barrels. The clay-limestone terroir of Clos de Vougeot produces powerful, racy, elegant wines.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Clos de Vougeot from the François Lamarche wine estate perfectly illustrates the style of the estate's wines. Velvety, fleshy, tannic and dense wines that need time to express themselves and reveal the potential of the terroir. This grand cru requires a minimum of 5 years cellaring, but can be aged up to 30 years.

On the nose, the wine reveals spicy, floral and empyreumatic notes that illustrate Nicole Lamarche's mastery of ageing. There are also notes of ripe black fruit and a touch of elegant woodiness that adds complexity.

Full-bodied on the palate, with fleshy tannins. This is a powerful, racy Grand Cru that nevertheless reveals a velvety texture. Notes of blackcurrant, prune and licorice mingle with hints of clove, black truffle and tonka bean. The finish is long and precise, a wine that needs to be forgotten in the cellar.
