Nicole Lamarche 's Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits rouge comes from parcels overlooking the heart of the Côte de Nuits. On these upper slopes, the altitude and windier climatic conditions enable the Pinot Noir to reach homogeneous ripeness while retaining its freshness. For this cuvée, Domaine Nicole Lamarche works its vines with the same philosophy as for its great terroirs: organic viticulture, attention to natural balance, strict hand harvesting. The choice of almost complete de-stemming and prolonged ageing is aimed at preserving the wine's fine texture.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Lamarche 's Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits rouge is a perfect illustration of the value of these high-altitude terroirs when approached with the utmost care. This appellation, which has long remained discreet, offers wines with a slender, legible profile, and the delicacy and precision of this cuvée reflect the expert hand of Nicole Lamarche. It's a wine for immediate pleasure, but one that will evolve harmoniously over a decade in the cellar.
On the nose, delicate red fruit aromas dominate, with ripe, almost kirschy cherries, juicy raspberries and fresh redcurrants. Aromas of violets, peony and cocoa enrich the complex bouquet without detracting from its clarity or freshness.
On the palate, the supple, silky texture is adorned with impressive volume. Fresh red fruit flavors glide over the fine tannic structure with extraordinary sapidity. The fluidity and freshness that mark this Hautes Côte de Nuits endure on the long, digestible finish, while lingering notes of fine spices coat the palate.
