Wine Description
The Monthélie of the Pierre Morey domain is derived from 6 plots of Pinot Noir distributed in the heart of the appellation and around the village. The terroirs are composed of clays, chalks and some are limestone. Like the Monthélie de Jean Marc Roulot, that of Pierre Morey is also realized with a lot of fineness and elegance.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Pierre Morey is one of the few winemakers to know how to produce great white wines and great red wines. It is indeed quite difficult to excel in both exercises even for experienced people. This Monthélie is a superb wine of the Coast Beaune which deserves to be put back and deserves a place higher than its present image.
In the nose, this Monthélie reveals beautiful smoky notes. We also discover beautiful touches of black pepper, notes of currant, plum. With some oxygenation, the wine reveals delicate notes of cedar and fresh mushrooms.
In the mouth, the attack is sharp, full of fruit. Livestock is mastered to perfection and brings the right touch of complexity. There is a multitude of aromatics that reveal themselves with the utmost precision. A wine of great emotion, thank you Mr. Morey.
