Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve 'sCahors La Fage is the wine estate's "little cuvée", which already has all the makings of a big one. This 100% Malbec cuvée comes from the finest Cahors terroirs, with vines averaging 30 years of age. The wine is aged in barrels for 14 months to round out the tannins and bring out its youthful accessibility. All the vines are cultivated biodynamically.
Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve are keen to ensure that there is life and biodiversity in all the vineyards on the wine estate.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : This cuvée La Fage is a superb introduction to the wines of the Cosse Maisonneuve wine estate. It's a wine of great complexity and gourmandise. The Cahors terroir shows all its breed and authenticity here.
On the nose, notes of coffee, blueberry and a hint of menthol are readily apparent. It's a first approach that's clean, precise and very tasty.
The palate is fleshy, juicy and racy, just like all the other wines from the Cosse Maisonneuve wine estate. A cuvée that has nothing to be ashamed of when compared to other, more renowned Cahors wines - quite the contrary!
