Sylvain Pataille 's Marsannay blanc La Charme aux Prêtres is a pure Chardonnay whose vines are rooted in the limestone of the Marsannay appellation. It is produced in very small quantities, as yields are limited and the necessary ageing is very long. Sylvain Pataille, always a stickler for detail, has chosen to age this wine in a complex way. In particular, the first 20 months are spent in barrel, followed by a second two-thirds in new barrels, with the remaining third aged in non-new barrels.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Marsannay white cuvée La Charmes aux Prêtres is one of the finest white wines on the Côte de Nuits. It is worthy of the premier crus of the finest Côte de Beaune appellations. Sylvain Pataille has taken full advantage of this terroir, drastically reducing yields to concentrate quality as much as possible.

On the nose, the wine develops pretty notes of pear, yellow lemon, verbena and greengage. After a few minutes of oxygenation, the wine takes on a slightly sappy character. The nose is constantly evolving, with remarkable complexity and precision .

On the palate, we find the same elements as on the nose: acidulous and fruity notes. The wine's complexity continues to grow. There are also subtle hints of roasted pine nuts and a fine saline finish.
