Wine Description

Sylvain Pataille 's Bourgogne Aligoté Longeroies is a veritable manifesto of style, from one of Marsannay's finest terroirs, rarely devoted to white wines. Located mid-slope and facing due south, the Longeroies parcel, so named because it runs alongside the Clos du Roy, rests on limestone and clay soils, offering the Aligoté grape a remarkably pure expression. Planted in 1938, these deeply-rooted old vines draw their mineral energy from the rock, giving the wine its brilliance and tension. True to its artisan vision, the Sylvain Pataille wine estate cultivates these vines according to biodynamic principles, with deliberately low yields to preserve aromatic density. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and ageing in old barrels for 15 to 18 months continue this quest for balance and authenticity.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Sylvain Pataille 's Bourgogne Aligoté Longeroies reveals all the nobility of this grape variety from the great terroirs of Marsannay. With rare depth, this cuvée from the Sylvain Pataille wine estate transcends the classic typicity of Aligoté and the simple regional appellation to achieve the stature of a village appellation through its straightforwardness and salinity. The brilliant, remarkably long-lasting 2023 vintage is one of the wine estate's most successful. Its ability to age for ten years or so confirms the seriousness and precision of this luminous, chiselled wine.

The nose opens intensely with scents of ripe citrus fruit and elegant white flowers. Aeration reveals subtle spices and a mineral veil. The overall impression is one of clarity and balance.

On the palate, Sylvain Pataille 's Bourgogne Aligoté seduces with its purity of expression. The ample body is pierced by a vibrant acidity that admirably balances the fatness of the texture and the richness of the citrus and fine spice aromas. The finish lingers on a chalky, salivating minerality. A wine that is precise, vibrant and deeply rooted in its Marsannay terroir, embodying all the mastery of the Sylvain Pataille wine estate.
