Wine Description

Sylvain Pataille 's Marsannay Le Chapitre embodies all the nobility of this Côte de Nuits appellation. Located at the northern end of the village of Chenôve, this east-facing climat de Marsannay reveals the full potential of Pinot Noir in Burgundy' s limestone, marl and clay soils. The Sylvain Pataille wine estate is once again a craftsman, combining precision and respect for the living world. The vines are tended according to biodynamic principles, the grapes are harvested by hand, fermentation is natural and the wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels to accompany the wine without marking it. The result is a Marsannay red of rare purity, both racy and vibrant, that sincerely expresses the depth of its terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Sylvain Pataille 's Marsannay rouge Le Chapitre is unquestionably one of the estate's most intense wines. This Marsannay climate gives the Pinot Noir a more floral, spicy and sanguine profile. It stands out for its density and the tension characteristic of the greatest Côte de Nuits reds. Behind its restrained power lies a natural elegance and balance that are hallmarks of the Sylvain Pataille wine estate style.

The nose reveals a noble, concentrated expression of Burgundy Pinot Noir, with notes of red and black fruits underlined by delicate floral accents. With aeration, the wine gains in depth with hints of peppery spices, leather and particularly seductive balsamic notes.

On the palate, the silky texture is marked by aromatic intensity from the very first sip. The balance of the body reveals a fine tannic framework that structures the whole with suppleness. Brilliant black fruit expresses itself with purity, mingling with hints of clove and black pepper. Complex sanguine and tertiary notes add further depth to the finish, whose harmony and freshness linger long on the palate.
