Long description
Domaine de la Tournelle is located in the Jura region and was created in 1991 by two passionate winegrowers, Evelyne and PascalClairet. It's a wine estate that lives up to its reputation, rising to the level of the Jura's greatest winemakers. It has to be said that their thoughtful growing methods, respectful of their terroirs, can only produce good results in the glass. Indeed, the entire 7-hectare wine estate has been certified organic since 2010. No chemicals are used in the vineyards, and only manual labor and a few plants are used to care for the vines when necessary.
The vines are pruned very short, with single and double guyot, to limit yields and ensure greater grape concentration. We rarely reach 35 hectoliters per hectare, even for the "easiest" cuvées.
As far as cellar work is concerned, Domaine de la Tournelle uses gentle, slow pressings, often with whole-bunch harvesting. The addition of sulfur is kept to a strict minimum, and is sometimes not necessary at all, depending on the vintage and cuvée. All ageing is carried out in barrels, never new, to preserve all the authenticity of theArbois terroir.
We admire this wine estate not only for the quality of its wines, but also for its consistency.
The cuvées we are fortunate enough to present to you are Terre de Gryphées, a Chardonnay grown on very clayey and marly terroirs. Fleur de Savagnin cuvée, a no-sulfur-added Savagnin aged 18 months in non-new barrels. Ambre de Savagnin, a sailing wine of rare complexity. Its famous Vin Jaune, the pinnacle of its kind. And its splendid Trousseau des Corvées, situated on gravel and grey marl soils.
