Pelican wine estate

Domaine du Pélican is unquestionablyone of the finest wine estates in the Jura. It was acquired in 2012 by Guillaume d'Angerville, a highly acclaimed winemaker who produces some of the finest Volnay. A lover of great wines, and in particular of the Jura terroir, he has acquired the finest parcels of Savagnin, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Arbois, and has even bought up some plots of the famous Puffeney wine estate.

The story behind the creation of this wine estate began with a tasting in one of Guillaume d'Angerville's favorite restaurants. He asked the sommelier to taste anything but a Burgundy, and was served a great wine from the André and Mireille Tissot wine estate. At first, he thinks it's a mistake and tastes a great Burgundy. That day, he realized the potential of Jura terroirs. After many meetings and tastings, the project came to fruition with 5 hectares of carefully selected vines.

Domaine du Pélican has been certified biodynamic since 2005, and applies many of the same principles, such as the use of the lunar calendar. The wines are a perfect illustration of the terroirs ofArbois, and have risen to the highest echelons of the region's wines, surpassing even the most prestigious wine estates.

The wines that impressed us most were Arbois Trois Cépages, Arbois Pinot Noir Clos Saint Laurent, Arbois Chardonnay and Arbois Savagnin Macération Pélliculaire.
