Tenuta San Guido

The San Guido estate, Tenuta San Guido in Italian, is located on the Tyrrhenian coast, between Livorno and Grosseto, in the superb Maremma region. In the 1940s, Marquis Mario Incisa della Rochetta moved here with his wife, realizing his dream of creating a great Bolgheri wine worthy of the Bordeaux Premiers Crus. The Marquis broke with the traditional Sangiovese and Nebbiolo grape varieties by introducing Cabernet-Sauvignon. The result is Sassicaia, a legendary wine that today ranks among the world's most prestigious. The passion and dedication of the Antinori family does not stop at the world of wine. Tenuta San Guido is also home to the Bolgheri Oasis. In 1966, it became Italy's first private nature reserve, a sign of our respect for nature and vines.

We're not big fans of guidebook ratings, as we don't judge a wine's quality by them, but we would point out that Sassicaia 2016 has been awarded the ultimate score of 100/100 by Parker.
