Alex Foillard is the son of Agnès and Jean Foillard, the winemakers behind the long-established Jean Foillard wine estate. Alex Foillard is passionate about wine, and has literally been immersed in it since childhood. After studying oenology and working at the Prieuré Roch wine estate, he decided to return to his homeland.

His adventure began in 2015, when he took on a salaried position at domaine Jean Foillard, while at the same time setting up his own wine estate in the Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly terroirs.

He follows in his father's footsteps and his philosophy, which he considers to be one of the best adapted to Beaujolais vineyards. Namely, a lot of work in the vines to obtain the healthiest, ripest grapes, but little intervention in the cellar so as not to disguise the terroir, but rather to reveal it in the best possible way.

All the vines have been cultivated organically since 2005, none of the wine is filtered and only a small amount of sulfur is added at bottling. Alex Foillard has been able to acquire plots of very old vines, ranging from 30 to 50 years for the oldest. A real godsend when you consider how difficult it is to find good vineyard land, even in Beaujolais.

He currently owns 2.5 hectares of Gamay vines, which he produces in 3 red cuvées. A Côte de Brouilly located in the commune of Quincié-en-Beaujolais, a Brouilly in the commune of Odenas and a Beaujolais Village in the commune of Saint-Jean-d'Ardières. All these cuvées are vinified in the Beaujolais style, i.e. with carbonic maceration for 10 days to 3 weeks, to preserve maximum fruitiness and drinkability.
