Long description

The Charvin wine estate is located in Orange, producing wines in the southern Rhône Valley, in the northern part of Châteauneuf du Pape. Established in 1851, it is one of the oldest wine estates in the appellation. Today, Laurent Charvin has taken over the 32-hectare wine estate.

From 1990 onwards, Laurent Charvin made the wine estate his own, producing wines in a new style for the sector. He quickly attracted the attention of many critics and won high marks at tastings. The vines are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, and the wines are produced in concrete vats and whole bunches, giving the wines an extra touch of freshness.

The Charvin wine estate is fortunate to have plots on the coolest terroirs in the appellation, enabling it to produce wines with finesse while retaining remarkable aromatic power. The grape varieties that make up the blend are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and the very rare Vaccarèse.

The wines have really gained in finesse over the last few vintages, with a shift in winemaking techniques now that global warming is underway, and we need to adjust our choices to bring the best balance to the wine.

Today, this wine estate is widely acclaimed by connoisseurs, and has established itself as one of the appellation's leading references. It is undoubtedly one of the ambassadors of a refined Châteauneuf du Pape style.

The cuvées currently on sale at Mundovin are Châteauneuf du Pape 2019, which we also offer in magnum, and the Côtes du Rhône cuvée for the 2020 vintage.
