Long description

Domaine Chandon de Briailles is a magnificent Burgundy wine estate located 4 km from Beaune. It covers 14 hectares in the communes of Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton.

The wine estate produces around 50,000 bottles a year, gracing some of the world's finest gourmet tables.

The choice of biodynamic viticulture, a revelation of terroir

The de Nicolay family is one of the few in Burgundy to have chosen to convert its entire wine estate to biodynamic viticulture. The vines are ploughed and no synthetic products are used. This results in well-balanced, ripe grapes, and energizes the vines. The aim is to produce excellent wines that faithfully express the terroir of each Côte d'Or appellation.

François de Nicolay has also chosen to regulate yields, and to root the vines so that they do not suffer from water stress and draw water more deeply. This meticulous approach magnifies the terroir's identity while minimizing the winemaking and ageing process

Winemaking that combines classicism and modernity

Winemaking is carried out in a "neoclassical" manner, i.e. the wines are matured in Burgundian oak barrels in accordance with ancestral know-how. This method, faithful to tradition, is complemented by the oenological and organic knowledge acquired over the last ten years.

Since the 90s, the wine estate has been producing consistent cuvées of both whites and reds. The wines express themselves with finesse and always reveal great freshness. Most of them improve with age, like Pernand Vergelesses 1er cru Iles des Vergelesses or Corton Blanc.
