Lucas et André Rieffel

The Lucas and André Rieffel wine estate is a family-owned wine estate that has continued to grow in size and quality, vintage after vintage. André and Lucas regularly purchase new vineyard plots to produce a wide range of wines. In 1996, Lucas Rieffel took over the reins and continued his father’s work as a winemaker with the same high standards. He acquired plots in the Wiebelsberg Grand Cru in Andlau. Heplanted Pinot Noir in the Kreuzel vineyard in 2005. In 2009, he began the transition to organic winemaking. It took him three years to achieve certification. Lucas Rieffel has his own vision for the craft: to combine purity and concentration in his wines and, above all, to produce wines that reflect their terroirs.

The Lucas Rieffel wine estate is located in Mittelbergheim, the heartland of the Zotzenberg grand cru and a region steeped in winemaking tradition for centuries. The soils there are predominantly composed of marl and limestone, with a touch of pure sandstone and a few clay-sandstone plots.

All of the cuvées produced by Lucas are the result of careful consideration and leave nothing to chance. His constant self-reflection is both rigorous and beneficial, resulting in wines that are increasingly precise and easy to drink. He has made a name for himself particularly through his fabulous crémants, but also through more daring cuvées such as the perfectly balanced “Macération Lâcher Prise” and his Pinot Noirs.

Lucas Rieffel is a creative winemaker who has long been committed to producing wines that are as vibrant as possible while always maintaining precision. No natural wine if the vintage doesn’t allow for it. This unassailable philosophy has propelled him into the highest echelons of Alsatian winemakers and wines.
