Le Hameau Touchebœuf is a tiny wine estate spanning just 5 hectares, located in the Rhône Valley, 20 kilometers south of Condrieu. The landscapes of the Pilat Regional Nature Park are an integral part of the terroir. At Simon Gastrein’s estate, there are no pesticides, just tall grasses, and a burning passion for good wine. The wines are produced based on intuition, the seasons, and nature—there’s no room for showmanship or frills.

A trained chef, Simon Gastrein first spent his youth refining his palate in Latin American countries before returning to France to train underAndré Perret.

It wasn’t until 2017 that he settled in Bessey, this little corner of paradise where the soils are clay-rich and packed with minerals.

He creates wines from the grape varieties he loves, but also those best suited to his microclimate. He therefore works with Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier for white wines, and Gamay and Syrah for red wines. And recently, vines of Cugnette, Petite Arvine, and Altesse have been planted.

The Hameau Toucheboeuf wine estate does not claim any specific appellation; the wines are either classified as IGP Côtes Rhodaniennes or Vin de France, depending on the grape varieties used.

Regardless of the appellation, it’s the result that counts—and it’s stunning!

For an evening with friends over a charcuterie platter or a barbecue, the Curatte cuvée is ideal—it’s a fruit-forward Gamay with lovely body and superb drinkability. To pair with a more robust and boldly flavored meal, L’Enclume is perfectly suited—a blend of Syrah and Gamay that reveals notes of black fruit and hints of spice with remarkable precision.

As for the cuvée L’Effrontée, it is a superb dining wine that pairs wonderfully with pan-seared scallops served with lemongrass butter.
