Gérard Boulay
Excellence in Sancerre
Gérard Boulay's Chavignol vineyard is one of the finest in the Sancerre appellation. Most of the soil is chalky, and the southern exposure means that the Sancerre grapes are always just ripe. This characterful terroir lends an elegance and refinement to the wines that are unrivalled in the Sancerre appellation. All our wines are full-bodied and generous, with a rare concentration that makes them ideal for laying down. In particular, the very pure Sancerre Comtesse and the admirable red Oriane, or the magnificent Sancerre Les Monts Damnés, capable of ageing for over twenty years. The purity of these Sancerre wines and their faithful expression of terroir have taken Gérard Boulay to the very top. An example to follow in the way he tends his vines and makes his wines.
Well done!
