The Peyre Rose wine estate is run by the charismatic Marlène Soria. One evening in 1973, Marlène Soria and her husband fell in love with this marvellous region of pine forest and rocky outcrops. Initially, the couple were looking for a vacation home, but in the end they decided to settle here permanently, taking over a wine estate near the village of Saint Pargoire.

Born into a family of winemakers, Marlène Soria quickly got used to the working conditions, despite the difficulties of the early days. For 6 years, she planted more than 17 hectares of vines without any electric machinery.

Today, thanks to her hard work, Marlène Soria is acknowledged as one of the world's finest winemakers, and the reputation of her wines is well established. The wine estate covers a total of 25 hectares, mostly planted with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre red grapes. Only 2 hectares are planted with Rolle, Roussanne, Viognier and a host of other grape varieties.

Domaine Peyre Rose produces 3 red cuvées. Clos des Cistes is made up mainly of Syrah (85%) and Grenache (15%). La Syrah Leone is 90% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Cuvée Marlène N°3 is 65% Syrah and 35% Grenache.

As far as white wine production is concerned, only one cuvée stands out, and not the least: Cuvée Oro, made with a majority of Roussanne and Rolle.

The most distinctive aspect of this wine estate is the ageing process. Marlène Soria has chosen to age her wines for at least 9 to 10 years before marketing. These are ready-to-drink wines that still have great ageing potential, around 5 to 10 years more depending on the vintage.
