Isole e Olena
Paolo De Marchi's flagship Tuscan wine estate has become one of the jewels in the crown of Tuscan viticulture, thanks in particular to the famous Cepparello cuvée, one of Tuscany's greatest Sangiovese wines, beyond Brunello.
Paolo is Luca's father, who runs the Proprietà Sperino in Piedmont. His experience and the extremely consistent quality of his wines for several decades now have made him a key player in Chianti Classico, even if Cepparello doesn't carry the appellation because it's 100% Sangiovese. Paolo de Marchi dared to do it after years of understanding the behavior of this grape variety on the exceptional terroirs at his disposal. The success is undeniable.
The wines are big, racy and full of character, yet wrapped in an extreme finesse and unctuousness that will delight lovers of classic wines as well as those looking for cutting-edge cuvées.
The wines can be kept for a very long time, and the reds need to be aired when young.
