Montenidoli
Elisabetta Fagiuoli'sMontenidoli wine estate is located near the beautiful village of San Gimignano in the heart of Tuscany. It was in 1965 that she decided to settle here to make what she calls "truth" wine. She took over a number of uncultivated plots, rehabilitated them and applied the recipes of her family, who had vineyards in the nearby Valpolicella terroirs.
She has never hidden her adoration for Burgundy wines, particularly those from the Côte de Nuits. It's this type of wine that she appreciates and that inspired her to become a winemaker. In particular, she remembers a wine from Henri Jayer that has remained engraved in her memory. For Elisabetta Fagiuoli, making great wines takes time, patience and observation.
All Montenidoli wine estate cuvées are made from indigenous grape varieties. Each wine is worked differently to preserve the authenticity of the terroir so dear to this winemaker.
The whites are absolutely fabulous, taking us back to Tuscany and making us want to sample the local gastronomy. The reds are more Burgundian in style, and of course Tuscan in their expression of terroir.
The cuvées we particularly liked were Chianti Il Garrulo, Cuvée Montenidoli and Sono Montenidoli for the reds. Vinbrusco, Vernaccia and Il Templare for the whites.
