The Jean Collet et Fils wine estate was founded in 1952 and was one of the pioneers in export sales of Chablis wines. Since the 1970s, the wine estate has sold in England, Japan and the USA. It's thanks to their hard work on the export front that Chablis wines now enjoy a great reputation abroad.

The family owns some of the finest terroirs on the Left and Right Banks of Chablis, and has devoted itself to working the vines for several generations.

Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, the policy of the Jean Collet et Fils estate is to let the wines' original terroir express itself, which is why Gilles and Romain Collet meticulously monitor their cuvées so as to keep intervention in the winemaking process to a minimum.

At the wine estate, each cuvée has its own ageing process, to respect the unique and inimitable characteristics of each climate, while remaining attentive to the specificities of each vintage. Tactile and lively, the wines represent the exaltation of the complex and exceptional minerality of Chablis Chardonnay.

The cuvées that impressed us most were Chablis Les Truffières , made from a parcel of very old Chardonnay vines planted in the commune of Villy, to the north of the vineyard. Chablis 1er Cru Les Forêts, 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre and 1er Cru Butteaux are on a par with the finest premier crus from the appellation's most renowned winemakers. A special mention for the Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre, which is remarkably fine and precise.

The Jean Collet wine estate also boasts superb parcels in theGrand Cru Valmur andGrand Cru Les Clos, which we naturally didn't let slip through our fingers.
