Nestled in the heart of Mercurey, in southern Burgundy, the Bruno Lorenzon wine estate is a veritable showcase of winemaking perfection, embodying the elegance and finesse of Côte Chalonnaise wines. A visionary winemaker and perfectionist, Bruno Lorenzon has transformed this family-run estate of less than 10 hectares into a benchmark of excellence, acclaimed by wine lovers and critics the world over.
A native of Mercurey, Bruno's attachment to terroir and his quest for excellence left their mark from an early age. After studies and experiences in New Zealand and South Africa, where he perfected his art as a consultant, he returned to his native land in the 90s. Working alongside his father, he produced his first vintages before taking sole control of the wine estate in 1997. From then on, he made his mark by combining absolute mastery of viticultural and oenological techniques with unyielding respect for the environment and terroir. Although not certified, the wine estate practises demanding organic viticulture and meticulous soil tillage, aimed at revealing all the purity and depth of its exceptional plots.
One of the unique features of the wine estate is its very high planting density, reaching up to 20,000 vines per hectare, an exceptional figure even in Burgundy. This density encourages competition between the vines, producing grapes of rare concentration. Passionate about ageing, Bruno Lorenzon also possesses unique expertise in cooperage, designing his own barrels for tailor-made maturation of each cuvée. This extreme care results in wines of unrivalled precision and purity, perfectly balanced between structure and elegance.
The wine estate distinguishes itself through four emblematic cuvées, true reflections of its expertise. Mercurey 1er Cru Les Champs Martin embodies perfect balance, revealing complex notes and great depth. Montagny 1er Cru Mont Laurent, meanwhile, illustrates the finesse of Pinot Noir with its bright red fruit aromas and silky texture, while retaining remarkable freshness.
The Bourgogne Blanc Clos Alfred, a unique and precious parcel, offers a crystalline expression of Chardonnay, with marked minerality and rare aromatic precision. Finally, Pièce XIII, a true jewel of the wine estate, is produced in exclusive quantities. This wine is an ode to refinement, sublimating the terroir of Mercurey with an intensity and complexity that leave a lasting impression.
