Long description
Hameau Toucheboeuf is a tiny wine estate of just 5 hectares located in the Rhône Valley, 20 kilometers south of Condrieu. The landscapes of the Parc du Pilat are an integral part of the terroir. At Simon Gastrein, no pesticides, only tall grasses, and an all-consuming passion for good wine. The wines are produced according to intuition, the seasons and nature, with no room for showboating or fuss.
Trained as a chef, Simon Gastrein first spent his youth forging his palate in Latin American countries before returning to France to train alongsideAndré Perret.
It was only in 2017 that he settled in Bessey, this little corner of paradise where the soils are clayey and full of mineral elements.
He creates wines from the grape varieties he loves, but also those best suited to his microclimate. So he works with Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier for the whites, and Gamay and Syrah for the reds. Recently, Cugnette, Petite Arvine and Altesse vines have also been planted.
The Hameau Toucheboeuf wine estate doesn't claim any particular appellation; the wines are either IGP Côtes Rhodaniennes or Vin de France, depending on the grape varieties used.
Whatever the appellation, it's the result that counts - and it's stunning!
For an evening with friends, around a charcuterie platter or a barbecue, the Curatte cuvée is ideal, a gamay full of fruit, with good body and superb drinkability. L'Enclume, a blend of Syrah and Gamay, is perfectly suited to a spicier meal, revealing notes of black fruit and remarkably precise hints of spice.
The white cuvée L'Effrontée is a superb gastronomic wine that will go perfectly with pan-fried scallops and lemongrass butter.
