Clusel Roch

Domaine Clusel Rochis a 20-hectare wine estate with vineyards in the Côte Rôtie appellation ,Condrieu wines and Coteaux Lyonnais. Since 2021, Guillaume Clusel has been managing the wine estate, succeeding Gilbert Clusel and Brigitte Roch. The Clusel Roch wine estate claims to be passionately rural, so it's only natural that they chose organic farming to keep their terroir alive.

The wine estate was awarded the organic label in 2002, but organic isn't everything! As great lovers of the terroir and their vines, the family began to create their own "home-made" grafts and carried out massal selections of very oldSyrah varieties, notably the famous Serine. The Serine vines were planted on the Côte Rôtie "grand cru", the "Les Grandes Places" parcel. These vines may be less productive, but their aromatics and depth of body are far more interesting than any of the clones available on the market.

When it comes to working the vines, Guillaume's parents have always paid close attention to the soil, using light ploughing and manual scratching despite the steep slopes of Côte Rôtie. This preserves the biological balance of the soil and limits erosion.

The Clusel Roch wine estate is fortunate to benefit from very high quality terroirs, whichwe aim to enhance through our work in the vineyard and during winemaking. The grapes are carefully treated, partially de-stemmed, then vatted by gravity to ensure gentle extraction.

All Côte Rôties are aged in barrels, of which only 20% are new. For the Condrieu, it's a little different: only part of the grapes are fermented in barrels, the rest in stainless steel tanks. Blending takes place at the end of the ageing process, one year after winemaking.

At Mundovin, the wines from the Clusel Roch wine estate have been meticulously tasted. After this, we chose to reference Le Condrieu Verchery, an aromatic wine with exotic notes and a beautiful minerality. Côte Rôtie Les Schistesis a massal selection of Serine, easy to drink young. The Côte Rôtie La Viallière is a superb wine for laying down, both racy and delicious, and finally the sublime Côte Rôtie Les Grandes Places, produced in only 3,000 units worldwide. A deep, intense wine that you'll have to wait to taste.
