Wine Description

Alain Voge's Saint-Péray Ongrie is an emblematic Saint-Péray cuvée. This dry white wine is made exclusively with Marsanne from 50-year-old vines. The Ongrie parcels are planted on complex soils combining ancient alluvium, granite colluvium, clay and limestone, a unique terroir that gives the wine depth and minerality.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Winemaking is carried out using indigenous yeasts in 228- and 400-liter oak barrels, of which around 30% are new. Ageing for 13 months on fine lees brings structure and complexity to the wine. Biodynamic since 2013, the wine estate cultivates its vines in an environmentally-friendly way, which translates into exceptional purity in the glass.

On the nose, we perceive roasted and exotic fruits, including caramelized pineapple, ripe mango and notes of poached apricot. This gourmet bouquet is enriched by hints of roasted almonds and roasted hazelnuts. A subtle floral touch evokes verbena and honeysuckle, while the sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and turmeric add a warm, elegant dimension.

From the outset, the wine seduces with its silky, enveloping texture. The balance between richness and mineral acidity brings dynamism and freshness. Flavors evoke a blend of roasted white fruits of peach and pear, vanilla custard and slightly buttery brioche notes. A livelier dimension then emerges, carried by touches of candied lemon zest and a saline hint that prolongs the finish.
