A great gastronomic white wine, gourmand thanks to the grape variety, complex and racy thanks to the terroir and the winemaker. Pinot Gris A360 P is located at the tip of the Muenchberg Grand Cru. These vines are planted on a small plot of barely half a hectare. The terroirs are essentially composed of limestone and pink sandstone. André Ostertag's pride and joy is highlighted by numerous blind tastings. Naturally, the grapes are grown biodynamically, and yields are very limited, reaching 30 hl/ha at best.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Another great wine from the Ostertag wine estate, we could almost get tired of it... in fact, we never do! Keen to do things right and even more, Domaine Ostertag has chosen to vinify a Pinot Gris from the Grand Cru Muenchberg as if it were the king of this parcel. The result is a wine of grandiose depth and complexity. The balance between aromatic expression, minerality and substance is simply perfect.
The nose is highly complex, even on opening, with notes of white flowers, sweet spices and a farandole of extremely pure fruit invading your senses. A pinot gris like no other, a hint of serenity is revealed even after oxygenation. A superb nose, rarely found at this level in Alsace.
The palate is both elegant and racy. Spicy notes typical of Pinot Gris are present, but with a touch of class. The minerality develops throughout the tasting and adds a great deal of freshness. A great Alsace white that can be drunk young, but that should be cellared for 5 to 10 years. Don't be afraid to keep them even a little longer, as Alsace whites of this level keep very well, especially with such balance.
